I decided for Centro Linguistico Internacional (CLI) in Antigua. I studied there for 3 weeks, 7 hours per day. I got 2 good teachers, Eduardo and Marleni. One taught me in the morning, the other in the afternoon. I am very pleased with the teachers I got. Both were very educated, bright, and ran a very structured but laid back curriculum. They also constantly asked for my input. The director of the school talked to me once per week to make sure I was having a good experience. I learned a great deal. When I first arrived, I was a complete beginner. After the 3 weeks, I was able to have basic conversations in Spanish, and I can read most things. I am very satisfied with my progress. I participated in about half of the activities that the school offered; most were offered in the afternoon, and my teacher would always accompany me and offer insight about them. All were enlightening, some more entertaining than others. They offered a very good selection of activities, although every Monday the activity was Salsa dancing (which is understandable, salsa takes a lot of practice). I stayed in a large house with 8 other students owned by Flor and Gustavo (forgot their surname, check with CLI). I think they own 3 such houses in Antigua. They did not live at this particular house, but stopped by constantly to visit us and to check if we needed anything. Food was good and prepared by a very nice lady named Lupe. Flor and Gustavo are wonderful, hospitable people, and I hope many other students get to experience their hospitality in the future. They even bought me a Christmas present. Regards, Ryan Keys |

I had a unbelievable experience at Centro Linguistico Internacional Spanish School in Antigua Guatemala! I studied at the school for approximately 3 weeks. My teachers were both wonderful, very patient and helpful. Their names were Gabby and Margarita, Margarita is more advanced. My family was so sweet. They cooked great food and were very flexible. They also spoke to us in Spanish which was very helpful. The afternoon activities through the school were alright, I only went to a few of them; an orphanage trip and salsa dancing lessons. I finally selected Centro Linguistico Internacional Spanish School on Alameda Santa Rosa. My selection was based partly on the quality of their website: it gave me the answers I was looking for, and they responded promptly to my registration etc. I studied for five mornings, and was very satisfied with my teacher. We found a good pace and there was a nice sense of communication and humour while we did our work. The school also had a nice setting (garden) and had free internet, and there was a feeling of co-operation amongst the staff. For example, one day we all contributed to the cost of a cake for the Director′s birthday; during the morning break we sang ′Happy Birthday′ in to all sorts of languages and ate the cake together. I took part in a salsa lesson and tour of a coffee plantation. Both were reasonably interesting activities, but not brilliant. My stay with Ana de Ruano and family was delightful! The food was excellent; the conversation was lively and genuinely interesting. There were two other students there and the consensus was that this was a good place. I asked and received a room with an adjacent bathroom, both were Spartan but functional. This family stay was an excellent value and added a lot to my stay in Antigua. |

Centro Linguistico Internacional Spanish School Antigua six weeks My boyfriend and I both got excellent teachers each. They were always very well prepared, very knowledgable, they adapted very well to our needs and were able to answer detailed questions about grammar as well as to have discussions about politics which, amazingly enough, we were able to participate in after only a couple of weeks of school. We stayed in the appartment of the school in the amazingly beautiful garden. It was very convenient for us and we even had 24 hours broadband internet access in our room. I just want to add my voice to that of Rhonda Gallagher. I enjoyed my stay at your school several weeks ago very much and will certainly highly recommend it to others seeking to learn Spanish. My professor, Rudolfo, was an excellent, thorough, and patient instructor. Should I return next year, which at the moment is my plan, I would love to have him as my instructor again. The facilities were also very clean and more than adequate.

It was great to see how well a language can be presented when you have the one on one learning context. From what I saw and experienced, it appears to me that you are doing great things! You, Jose and Victoria can be proud with good reason.
By changing teachers after one week, I was able to observe and experience wider posibilities, first with Silfide and then with Sanchez Please let boths of them know that I valued the opportunity to get to know them.

I wanted to let you know that my colleagues and I really enjoyed our time at your school in Antigua from April 16-24. I was impressed with the effort you made to ensure that our learning needs were met and included two field trips of particular interest to us (Hospital San Pedro & the day care). The flexibility as to the direction of the tutorial for individual study was great. We were also pleased with the accomodation and housekeeping/meal services. The fiesta celebrating the opening of the new location that occured at the end of our week there was an additional bonus.
Please also thank Hugo for us. He was an excellent driver and a friendly face to greet us when we first arrived.

I took Spanish lessons at your school 2 months ago. I enjoyed the time very
much and learned a lot, so that I could do an individual travel through
Mexico without any problems in communicate!
Today I was contacted by a person who perhaps wants to apply for a course together with his son at your school, he asked me about my impressions and so on. From November 3nd to 14th I studied Spanish at the Centro Linguistico Internacional, Antigua, Guatemala. I enjoyed studying at your school very much, and my Spanish has improved from none to more or less intermediate level
After learning the basics of Spanish and getting to know the Latin American culture by studying the language and travelling around, I decided to return to do a medical elective (since I am a medical student). If all goes well, I will participate in a program in San Jose, Costa Rica, next summer.
